Carol Luz was born in Southampton, New York, and attended Westhampton Beach High School (go Hurricanes!). Carol paints predominantly in oils, but also in watercolors. She received her BFA in Advertising Design/Graphic Design from The Fashion Institute of Technology. Carol has also studied under artists Jock MacRae and M. Christopher Zacharow. She paints in her spare time, showing work at the Katonah Library, Katonah Art Center, Arts on The Lake, The Mary O. Fritchie Art show, and the Westhampton Beach Library in August 2017. She currently works at Hearst Magazines in New York City and resides in Putnam County, New York with her husband Nelson and two Jack Russell Terriers Judy and Elroy. As a Hamptons native, Carol also enjoys her summers at the beach.
I mostly have been working in oils. Oils make it so easy to capture the realness of the subject(s) I am painting. I usually choose the subjects that I am most passionate about and hope people see what I see in them, their personality, humor, serenity, softness, or peacefulness. Envisioning a person’s reaction to my art is what inspires me to create. I want my work to reach out and touch the person viewing it. They might be amused, soothed, pleased or curious.
